Singing again!

Sorry for the terrible quality of this photo, but this is a picture of OneVoice (the singing group our daughter, Janie, has been in for the past 3 years) singing last night at a Christmas party for our church.  And the girl standing second from the right is Janie!  She's singing with the group for the first time since last summer.  Who would have thought?  But "With God all things are possible!"
I can so clearly remember the day about 3 and a half months ago when the wonderful director of OneVoice, Melissa, and her husband, James, came to visit Janie a couple of days after the accident.  Janie had been unconscious and unresponsive from day 1, so at that point, we had no earthly idea when, or if,  Janie would ever wake up, nor what kind of condition she might be in if she did regain consciousness.  But sweet Melissa and James prayed over her in the ICU and told her they were holding her spot in OneVoice and couldn't wait to get her back singing with them this year.
Faithless one that I am, I can still clearly recall the emotions of faith, hope, yet also a real sense of "that will never happen.  No way."  I simply couldn't imagine how on earth Janie could awaken from this coma, get off the ventilator, and be able to learn music and sing again, especially this year.   My mind would sometimes be tempted to drift off to thoughts of "What if we never get to hear her sing again," but the Lord would counsel my heart to refuse to go there.
And so, we prayed and waited and hoped and prayed some more.  It was a continual battle to keep trusting and turning it all over to our omnipotent, omniscient Heavenly Father.  "Not our will, but Yours, Father."  A hard prayer in the midst of all the waiting and uncertainty.
But we serve a God of the impossible.  A mighty miracle working God whose grace and glory we have witnessed over and over again the past 3 and a half months.  A God of mercy and compassion whose love shines brightest in the darkness.
And so, there we were last night, listening to OneVoice--and Janie singing along with them!  Incredible!  Lord, You are just incredible!  The Ephesians 3:20 God of immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine... or even hope!  Thank You, Lord!
When Mary asked the angel how she could bear the Son of God since she was a virgin, Gabriel responded: "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy--the Son of God.  And behold, your relative Elizabeth in her old age has conceived a son, and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren.  For nothing will be impossible with God." (Lk. 1:35-38)
God can bless the barren with children.  He can enable the stilled voice to sing again.  And He can save us from our sins by sending the Savior as a baby.  Fully God; fully man.  Amazing.
If He can do that, tell me what on earth can't He do?  Gabriel gave us the answer loud and clear: nothing, nothing, nothing is impossible with God.  And I can promise you, your difficulties or challenges or even seemingly insurmountable problems are not the one exception to the Almighty God's infinite and sovereign power over ALL.
When you forget, go back and gaze at the manger... at your Savior.  Yes, nothing is impossible with God.
     To God be the glory.
